Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris born October 20th 1964) is an American politician and attorney who is the 49th and current vice president of the United States. She is the first woman to be elected vice president, and also holds the title of highest-ranking female officer in American history. She is a member of Congress and a former US senator representing California. Harris was born and raised in Oakland, California. Harris started her career in the Alameda County District Attorney's Office prior to her move to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office and later the City Attorney of San Francisco's office. In 2003, she was appointed district attorney for San Francisco. Harris was elected Attorney General of California in 2010. In 2014, she won re-election. Harris was the junior United States senator from California from 2017 to 2021. Harris beat Loretta Sanchez during the 2016 Senate elections, becoming the second African American woman, and the first South Asian American, to serve as a senator in the United States Senate. As senator, she fought for healthcare reform and federal de-scheduling of cannabis, a pathway to citizenship for immigrants who are not legal and the DREAM Act, a ban on assault weapons, and progressive tax reform. Her sharp questioning of Trump officials in Senate hearings has earned the attention of the nation, which included the second Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh who was indicted with sexual assault.
