Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran was born on March 10, 1949. She is an American investor as well as a speaker and consultant. The Corcoran Group is a New York City-based real-estate brokerage. In 2001, the company was transferred to NRT at $66 million. Corcoran quit the firm shortly thereafter. Corcoran is one of ABC's initial Shark investors, has been a part of each episode of Shark Tank. In February of 2020 Corcoran was involved in 53 deals, the biggest being a $350,000 deal that covered 40% of Coverplay. Corcoran was born in Edgewater (New Jersey) as the second of ten children from a working-class Irish Catholic family. Florence, Corcoran's mother, was a housewife. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father during Corcoran's early years. At times, her family relied on the delivery of food that was free from a friendly local grocer. Corcoran remembers her fatheras who was a drunk at times too much and treated her mother with disrespect and condescendingly, especially after he'd had some drinks. Corcoran struggled throughout her schooling before discovering that she had dyslexia. Corcoran attended a Catholic elementary school in her area and began high school in St. Cecilia High School, Englewood. Corcoran, who had failed numerous classes in her freshman year, transferred to Leonia High School. There she was awarded a D.
